STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State cornerback Martel Van Zant visited a Stillwater elementary school Friday to help students in an after-school club learn sign language.
Third-grade teacher Diane Cox started the club last fall at Sangre Ridge Elementary to help students and teachers communicate with a student who is hearing impaired.
More than 120 students between kindergarten and fifth grade now attend the club's meetings.
Van Zant, who also is hearing impaired, spoke through an interpreter and taught the students his name and how to make the sign for ``football.''
He also autographed footballs and shirts for students.
