EDINBURG, Texas (AP) _ Oklahoma State continues play in the Citrus Tournament in south Texas today against McNeese State.
The Cowboys got 3-hits and 2-RBIs from Tyler Mach to beat Lamar 5-2 Friday in their season opener.
Senior Ty Wright opened the game for OSU with a leadoff home run off Lamar starter Lamar Harrington, and Ryan Flavell's 2-out RBI single in the 2nd-inning put the Cowboys ahead 2-nothing.
Up 2-1, the Cowboys scored twice in the 7th-inning, as Corey Brown tripled to score Flavell and later scored on a single by Mach.
Mach also hit a solo home run in the 8th-inning.
OSU starter Matt Gardner allowed 1-run and 4-hits while striking out 4-batters in 5-innings. Sophomore Jeff Breedlove pitched a scoreless 9th-inning to record his first career save.
Right-hander Oliver Odle will take the mound for Oklahoma State against McNeese State lefty Chris Denton.
