McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- A judge ordered a Pittsburg County man to stand trial on a first-degree murder charge for the August shooting death of a man near Blocker.
Mike Krebbs, 34, was bound over for trial for the August 3 shooting death of 23-year-old Ty Mordecai outside Krebbs' residence east of Blocker.
Mordecai's mother, Kathy Mordecai, campaigned for months to have criminal charges filed in the case.
"I'm just relieved," a tearful Kathy Mordecai said, clutching a photograph of her son.
Pittsburg County District Attorney J.B. Miller recused himself from handling the case, and the attorney general's office appointed Bryan County District Attorney Emily Redman.
Prosecutors contend Krebbs murdered Mordecai, while defense attorneys say Krebbs acted in self defense.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Agent John Jones testified in December that Krebbs told him he shot Mordecai after Mordecai reached inside the truck he was in and attacked him.
