MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- A high school principal whose suspension led to student walkouts and protests has been given his termination papers.
Principal Dewayne Pemberton of Hilldale High School in Muskogee now has ten days to request a hearing to protest the proposal to fire him.
Pemberton was suspended with pay February 2nd.
His attorney says a letter from school Superintendent DB Merrill shows Pemberton was suspended because he would not require his son's fiancee to drive a school bus.
The fiancee is a teacher and basketball coach at Hilldale, but the attorney says the woman doesn't have license to drive a bus.
