Two state prison escapees who went on a crime spree will face charges in Tulsa. Tony Ellison and Charles McDaniels were arrested in Tulsa, 36 hours after they cut through a fence at a prison in Hinton.
Ellison is being held on complaints of burglary, eluding and resisting arrest. McDaniels faces complaints of attempted burglary and resisting arrest.
While running from authorities, the escapees crashed a car near Whiteside Park in the 4300 block of east 40th Place. They split up and broke into four different Tulsa homes.
A homeowner, Richard Lohmann, was home when one of the escapees was captured in his garage. "I've never seen so many policemen that were busy in my entire life. And I really wasn't sure what was going on, but they kept yelling for us to get out of the house."
Ellison and McDaniels will be arraigned January 30th. They're expected to be sent to the maximum security penitentiary in McAlester.
Before Ellison and McDaniels were caught in Tulsa, they terrorized other parts of the state. In Hinton, they kidnapped a 71-year-old woman who lived next door to the prison. They stole her car and drove it to Oklahoma City.
The escapees found another woman's car, tied both victims up and took off. The women were able to free themselves and call 911.
