LOS ANGELES (AP) _ ``Everybody Hates Chris,'' the CW sitcom inspired by comedian Chris Rock's Brooklyn childhood, has been renewed for the 2007-2008 season.

The network's announcement Friday was a vote of confidence for the critically acclaimed comedy that has struggled to find an audience on the new network.

``Producing one great episode after another, this is a show that we want viewers to associate with the CW,'' the network's Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff said at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena.

``Everybody Hates Chris'' averages a 1.0 rating with 2.92 million viewers for the CW, tying for 159th among this season's broadcast TV shows. It averaged 4.26 million viewers last season when it was on UPN, which merged with The WB to form the CW.
