TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ The former promoter for former heavyweight boxing champ and Oklahoman Tommy Morrison opposes Morrison's plans for a comeback.
Morrison's career appeared over eleven years ago when he tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS.
Now his attorney says recent blood tests were negative for the virus and Morrison is applying for a boxing license in Arizona with plans to fight next month.
Former Morrison promoter Tony Holden of Tulsa says he remains friends with the boxer but he doesn't want to see Morrison fight again. Holden says Morrison has been away from boxing too long and he doesn't want to see him get hurt.
Morrison grew up in Jay in northeastern Oklahoma.
