In Tulsa, city crews have been working overtime salting and sanding the main roads making them driveable, but News on 6 anchor Omar Villafranca says for some residents, it's almost impossible to get out of their neighborhoods.
Thick sheets of ice still coat many neighborhood streets making driving nearly impossible. To make it even worse residents in this midtown Tulsa neighborhood live on a hill.
“It's extremely difficult trying to get around on the ice, with it being as slick as it is. Especially in the mornings, early morning, I leave around 6:30 and it's just a glaze of ice," said Tulsa resident Ernie Bowlz.
But help is on the way! The city plans to salt and sand residential streets. It’s not soon enough for one drive who made it partially up the hill, then slid all the way back down, smacking a stop-sign.
Walking turns into a death defying stunt in this neighborhood. We caught a FedEx driver working hard to deliver her package, and using some creativity to stay on her feet.
One woman had some help, not from her dog but from some snow cleats.
“And we ordered them after the last snow storm, and they really grip the snow. You just slip them over a flat shoe," Carey Cole said.
“I suggest you walk. I made a mistake, I didn't bring my ski poles today," resident Charles Cox said.
City Crews started treating residential streets Tuesday afternoon, so they are asking people to have some patience.
