Driving conditions are getting worse in the Tulsa area. We sent News on 6 anchor Craig Day out to check out area roads.

Early in the day we saw sand trucks out all over the city working to clear highways and city streets. In Tulsa, driving wasn't too difficult as long as people took it slow and drove carefully. We only saw a few cars off the road, nothing like we saw during our historic snowstorm at the end of November. But conditions seemed to get worse as the afternoon went on.

There are plenty of slick and dangerous spots.

We talked to a number of people out braving the wintry weather.

"I slide, two or three times, and run into the concrete," Tulsa driver Adrian Duiade said.

"Got out yesterday and had to scrape the windshield probably about four or five times and I didn't even leave the neighborhood I was in so. ‘Craig: Wish you would have stayed home today?’ Yeah. Yeah. Wish I could have stayed home today," said Tulsa resident Paul Blevins.

Right now, we're getting sleet and freezing rain. It could be a long night, so drivers are urged not to get out on area roads if at all possible.

If you must get out of the house you can check road conditions on the web at www.dps.state.ok.us, or by phone at 405-425-2385 or 1-888-425-2385.
