MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A judge in Tennessee has frozen the assets of a large cemetery company owned by Oklahoma businessmen.
The company -- Indian Nation, LLC -- is being investigated for possible mismanagement of $56-million in cemetery trust funds.
The company is owned by Okmulgee oilman Clayton Smart and attorney Steven Smith of Muskogee.
Last month, authorities in Michigan seized control of 28 cemeteries in that state owned by one of Smart's companies. A Michigan judge issued a temporary injunction and appointed a conservator.
