An overnight accident sends an AWOL soldier to jail.

It happened outside of Glenpool on US Highway 75 in Okmulgee County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the driver feel asleep as he headed northbound. He took out a guardrail before his air bag went off, and he came to a stop. He wasn't hurt.

Troopers say the driver was stationed at Fort Polk Louisiana, but was absent without leave. He was apparently headed here to see a girlfriend.

The unidentified soldier is being held until military officials can come get him.
