NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ A group of engineering students from the University of Oklahoma is planning a trip to Guatemala to help with engineering problems.
David Sabatini is the faculty adviser for OU's Engineers Without Borders. He says the group visits remote areas and helps with simple projects like installing water wells.
Several students will travel with Sabatini next month to the village of La Pradera Del Quetal to scout the area and plan for next summer's project. The planning trip will include community health surveys and topographical surveys.
Sabatini says such trips are a chance for students to take the engineering skills they've learned in a classroom and apply it in a natural setting.
