As we celebrate our state's birthday, another centennial exhibit takes shape. Local Artist Denise Rinkovsky gave us a first look at a commemorative statue honoring the Tulsa Fire Department.
The vision for the piece is inspired by our community's gratitude for 100 years of service and bravery.
"It's a hundred year period of time that these two firemen cover. Um, this first one here, this one leaning is from 1907, and this is the 2007 representation of the fire department,†Rinkovsky said.
The firefighters are also standing on a Maltese cross, which stands for warrior.
Work on the statue is still underway. Artists at the Bronze Horse in Pawhuska are busy transforming the piece into a bronze symbol of state pride.
