NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Two members of the Oklahoma volleyball team have earned All-America honors.
Senior Eliane Santos was named a third team selection. Fellow senior Joanna Schmitt earned honorable mention honors. The duo are only the second and third Sooners in history to receive All-America honors.
Prior to this season, the lone Sooner to earn All-America honors in the 32-year history of the program was Patrice Arrington, a 1997 honorable mention selection.
Santos is the Big 12 co-defensive player of the year. She finished her two-year career at Oklahoma as the career rally-scoring leader in solo blocks, block assists and block per game average.
Schmitt led the Sooners all season in kills per game and finished fourth in the conference with 4-point-3 kills per game in conference play.
