OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) Don Nelson became the second coach in NBA history with 1,200 career wins when the Golden State Warriors beat the New Orleans Hornets, 101-80.
Mickael Pietrus led Golden State with 22 points last Saturday.
Nelson and Lenny Wilkens, who posted 1,332 wins, are the only coaches with at least 1,200 wins.
After watching his team lose consecutive games in Texas by a combined 68 points to San Antonio and Houston to extend a losing streak to four games, Nelson convened a two-day minicamp to reinforce defensive fundamentals to his struggling team. It seemed to work as the Warriors held an opponent under 100 points for just the second time in ten games.
The Hornets -- led by Desmond Mason's 24 points -- have lost seven of their past eight games.
