JACKSON, Miss. (AP) A Mississippi man believed to be the second-oldest man in the world has died at age 113.
Moses Hardy is also thought to have been the last black U.S. veteran of World War I.
His family says Hardy died Thursday at a nursing home in Aberdeen. He would have turned 114 January 6th. Hardy had eight children.
A spokesman for Guinness World Records says Hardy's father was born in the 1830s and that both of Hardy's parents were slaves. After the Civil War, his parents apparently took a plot of land that the family still has.
