OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says it spent $2.5-million to remove snow and ice from the state's roadways last week.

That's about half of what was spent all last winter.

The storm hit last Thursday and 1,200 ODOT employees worked around the clock clearing roads and spreading 31,000 tons of sand and salt on highways and bridges. Another 7,700 gallons of magnesium chloride was used to help melt ice from the roads and bridges.

The department has $10-million budgeted for snow and ice removal.
