TULSA, Okla. (AP) Rod Earls scores 18 points for Tulsa and the Golden Hurricane holds Jackson State to 34 percent shooting in a 79-54 win Monday night.
Tulsa is 6-1 for the first time since the 2002-03 season, which was also the last season in which it reached the NCAA Tournament. TU hasn't achieved its sixth win before January 14th during any of the past three seasons.
Charles Ramsdell scored 13 points, all in the 2nd half, and Ray Reese added 11 for TU, which had 12 players score.
The Hurricane out-rebounded the smaller Tigers 47-31, led by 8 by Calvin Walls and 7 by Jamel McLean, and also blocked 7 shots.
Jackson State, which has yet to play a home game this year, was led by 31 points by Trey Johnson, who entered the game as NCAA Division I basketball's leading scorer at 29.8 points per game.
Jackson State falls to 4-6.
