ADA, Okla. (AP) -- A Pontotoc County man apparently spoke by phone with the man who kidnapped and killed a 16-year-old Ada girl about the time the girl was kidnapped.
A cell phone official testified Monday in the first-degree murder trial of Faye Sliger who is accused of being an accomplice in the September 2005 death of Caitlin Wooten.
Prosecutors say Jerry Don Savage used Sliger's pickup truck to kidnap Wooten -- who was the daughter of Savage's former girlfriend. Authorities say Savage then killed Wooten then himself on land owned by Sliger.
An official with US Cellular says Sliger's cell phone records show he spoke with Savage just after 3 pm when authorities believe Wooten was kidnapped from the Ada High School parking lot.
Savage then called Sliger again just before 3:15 and talked for seven seconds. Savage later made a series of phone calls to Sliger that went unanswered.
Testimony in the trial resumed Monday after being postponed two days last week because of winter storms.
