LOWELL, Mich. (AP) _ One of the top-ranked high school quarterbacks in the nation says he's changing his commitment from Michigan State to Oklahoma.

The father of Keith Nichol of Lowell, Michigan, says Nichol decided during a visit Thursday to sign with the Sooners.

Nichol verbally committed to Michigan State in July 2005 but the recent firing of Spartan head coach John Smith helped lead to his reconsidering the decision.

OU coach Bob Stoops and quarterbacks coach Josh Heupel visited Nichol in Lowell shortly after OU won the Big 12 South Division title last weekend.

Nichol plans to graduate in December and enroll at OU in January.
