A family of four wakes up to an early Friday morning house fire in Tulsa. The father and two boys were hurt, one of them seriously. It happened around 7 AM near 3rd and Sheridan.

News on 6 reporter Steve Berg says the outside of the home wasn’t damaged, but that was not the case inside the home.

Neighbors tell the News on 6, the mom and dad were the first out. They say the dad went back in to try to rescue the boys but was forced back by the smoke and injured. Firefighters pulled out the boys, ages 9 and 14, and began medical treatment.

The EMSA ambulance had trouble getting down the street. So they used an EMSA pickup truck to take the victims about two blocks to the ambulance on Sheridan. As you can imagine, rescues and firefighting in this weather is a daunting task.

Tulsa Fire Captain Larry Bowles: "Just getting the victim from the fire scene into that ambulance, we did have one ambulance slightly get stuck, and we used some of our manpower to push it out and get it on its way."

Neighbor Teresa Edwards: "I've never see a fire like that before. Smoke was billowing out, and flames just shooting out of the house. It was unreal. It was something in a movie. It was unbelievable."

Fire officials say the 9 year old is in critical condition and the older brother and father are in serious condition.

Officials say the cause appears combustibles next to a floor furnace.
