PURCELL, Okla. (AP) -- Winter weather forced the cancellation Thursday of a court date in a highly publicized homicide case in McClain County.
Kevin Ray Underwood who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin. Underwood was scheduled to appear in court today so attorneys could discuss the case with the judge in Purcell. Bolin died in April in what authorities called a cannibalistic plot.
McClain County District Attorney Tim Kuykendall says the courthouse was closed because of weather and no rescheduled date was set.
The delay in the status conference won’t affect the case because the trial is not supposed to start until late April. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
