PHILADELPHIA (AP) Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb had surgery today to repair a torn knee ligament and the team's head trainer says there's a good chance McNabb will be ready for the 2007 season opener.

The five-time Pro Bowl selection tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the 2nd quarter of the Eagles' loss to Tennessee last week.

It was his third season-ending injury in mid-November in the last five years.

Renowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews performed the reconstructive knee surgery.
