OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Southern Baptists in Oklahoma want businesses, organizations and the government to not provide family benefits to same-sex and unmarried couples.
A resolution calling for family benefits only to "traditional families" was approved by members of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma meeting in Oklahoma City.
The resolution defines a traditional family as a household headed by a husband and wife or a single parent.
Convention executive director Reverend Anthony Jordan calls the homosexual lifestyle abhorrent and says companies that accept same-sex partners are eroding the foundations of traditional marriage and family.
