TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The city of Tulsa will hold eleven events this month to kick off Oklahoma's celebration of its 100th birthday as a state.
The major events begin Thursday with an interfaith prayer breakfast and later there will be a reception to honor all Oklahomans who are 100-or-more years old.
Other events include three nights of fireworks plus art, food and music festivals starting Friday, a parade on Saturday and a concert by legendary singer Tony Bennett on Sunday.
Paula Hale is the Tulsa coordinator for the Oklahoma Centennial and says she wants to set the tone for the state as the celebrations move across Oklahoma during the next year.
