ADA, Okla. (AP) -- A Republican candidate for the state House wants a recount of his two-vote loss.
Todd Thomsen -- a former Oklahoma football player -- received 4,794 votes Tuesday for the House District 25 seat in southeastern Oklahoma.
Former Ada Mayor and city councilor Darrell Nemecek -- a Democrat -- received 4,796 votes.
Both are seeking to succeed term-limited legislator Bob Plunk.
Thomsen said he was disappointed at the close loss and believes it would be irresponsible not to seek a recount.
Nemecek says he understands Thomsen's concern, and if the shoe were on the other foot, he'd do the same thing.
