Afton Man Dies In One-Car Crash

AFTON, Okla. (AP) -- An Afton man is dead after crashing his car on a Delaware County road.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Gary Parmele junior was killed in the crash shortly after 8 Sunday night.

Troopers say Parmele was apparently speeding when he lost control of his car on a gravel road. The car went off the road where it hit an embankment, a tree and a telephone pole then rolled onto its top.

Troopers say Parmele's 14-year-old stepson was also in the car and is hospitalized in Joplin, Missouri, in good condition.
