TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Tulsa Regional Medical Center will become the Oklahoma State University Medical Center today.
The name switch ends months of speculation over the future stability of the teaching hospital.
The new name is part of a 50-year academic affiliation agreement signed last spring between the hospital and the OSU Center for Health Sciences.
It designates the medical center as the school's official primary teaching hospital. Officials say that most importantly, it establishes eastern Oklahoma's first academic health center.
In addition, the pact is a first step to providing the same access to health care offered by the University of Oklahoma's affiliation with the HCA Health Care System.
