The "Old Guard" protects the White House, the Pentagon and the President. Now, an Oklahoman is one of them.

Private First Class Nathan Redick is one of 17 Army recruits selected for the post. "Old Guard" soldiers can be part of the Rifle Platoon, the Continental Color Guard or the patrol at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

His inspiration to become an "The Old Guard" soldier takes him back to a family vacation to the nations Capitol. "I got some pictures with then and it was kind of cool you know. I was 10 years old and I had a picture with the Old Guard."

Nathan's goal is to guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington DC. To do that, he'll need nine more months of training.
