LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Oklahoma native Reba McEntire said no a couple of times but finally gave in to the idea of a tribute to her by Country Music Television.

Friends and fans turned out at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles Thursday night to honor the 51-year-old country music queen, including Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell, Trisha Yearwood and LeAnn Rimes.

McEntire first found fame with chart-toppers such as "Whoever's in New England" and "Does He Love You." She later scored on Broadway in "Annie Get Your Gun" and in films like "Tremors."

Her TV sitcom, "Reba," has been running since 2001, and was one of the highest-rated shows on the recently disbanded WB network. The series is still in production and is expected to return soon to the WB's successor, the CW.

Among those attending was Wynonna Judd, who says she stands on the shoulders of McEntire and the strong women who have preceded her in the industry.

The tribe is part of a "CMT Giants" special that airs November 18th.
