STIGLER, Okla. (AP) _ The assistant police chief in Stigler and his wife are hospitalized following a two-car collision that police say was caused by a drunken driver.
Assistant Chief Donnie Lockwood is hospitalized in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and is in intensive care. Vera Lockwood is reported in critical condition at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Donnie Lockwood was eastbound on State Highway 9 in Haskell County when his pickup was hit by another truck that was passing him. Lockwood's truck then ran off the roadway and rolled four times.
Neither Lockwood nor his wife were wearing a seat belt and both were thrown from the truck.
The OHP says 18-year-old Stephen Zachry of Stigler was driving the second truck and was arrested for DUI.
