A new multi-million dollar shooting range in Tulsa hosted its first event.

400 competitors took part in the National Handgun Championship at the United States Shooting Academy. It's just the beginning for the academy, which is only 20-percent complete. In addition to professional competitions, it will also serve as a training center for the military, federal government and law enforcement agencies.

Brian Hill with the US Shooting Academy: "and to be housed in Tulsa, Oklahoma is something we're proud of, very excited not only for the benefit of our law enforcement, military and civilian but also for the city of Tulsa."

When it's fully operational, the US Shooting Academy expects 12,000 to 15,000 people to use the facility each year.
