IDABEL, Okla. (AP) _ The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been asked to look into allegations of official misconduct at the McCurtain County district attorney's office.

OSBI agents in McAlester are investigating District Attorney Virginia Sanders, said Jessica Brown, OSBI spokeswoman.

The probe centers on Sanders but Brown wouldn't say what those allegations involved.

A woman who answered the phone at Sanders' office Thursday said Sanders would have no comment.

OSBI began investigating Sanders last month based on a request from the attorney general's office. The state office requested the investigation Sept. 5, said Charlie Price, spokesman for the attorney general's office.

``We received information that we thought needed to be followed up,'' Price said.

Sanders, who has been the district attorney since 2002, lost in the August election to attorney and Broken Bow municipal judge Laura Ross Wallis.

The district includes McCurtain, Choctaw and Pushmataha counties.
