Several Broken Arrow schools were on lockdown briefly Tuesday afternoon.

Broken Arrow Police officers say two kids shoplifted knives from the Bass Pro Shop. As a precaution, the nearest schools to Bass Pro, Country Lane Elementary and Centennial Middle School were put on lockdown.

Broken Arrow High School and nearby Westwood Elementary were also added to the lockdown list when the search for the thieves got close to those campuses.

The situation didn't last long and didn't amount to anything dangerous, but it was still a good test of school security.

Keith Isbell with Broken Arrow Schools: "Our parents obviously entrust their children to us for the school day. And our staff is there on campus. Whatever we have to do, whenever we have to do it, we're going to take the cautious side and always err on the side of caution."

Broken Arrow Police arrested one of the shoplifters.
