SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) -- An organization that advises student media on college campuses is censuring Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.

College Media Advisers says the action is for the dismissal of former OBU newspaper adviser Philip Todd.

CMA President Lance Speere says Todd's contract was not renewed in the spring of 2005 in part because he refused to review the student newspaper before it was published.

CMA says the university's call for prior review violates free speech rights and OBU's own policies.

Censure by the CMA is intended to indicate a school's employment practices are not conducive to the practice of good journalism.
