The city of Broken Arrow is temporarily blocking new construction in a subdivision prone to flooding.
Parts of the Glen Eagles subdivision have flooded twice since May.
The city is going to stop issuing building permits in Glen Eagles for 120 days. When it flooded the first time, nine inches of rain fell in a few hours. Some homes had a foot of water inside. It flooded again in August after just a couple of inches of rain.
Broken Arrow city attorney Beth Anne Wilkening: "There's no question that new home construction is contributing to the storm water issues out there with the silt and this will give us a chance to catch our bearings."
The moratorium won't stop any construction that's underway. It will delay new construction on homes by at least four months.
