Activists hope to bring a new sense of peace to eastern Oklahoma.
The grand opening of Tulsa's new Peace House on Sunday will serve as headquarters for many groups who promote peace. Visitors folded paper "peace cranes" and sorted through anti-war bumper stickers.
Organizers say hundreds of supporters showed up to the open house. Valerie Mapstone Ackerman: "In one way, it's just to celebrate life, and to know there is a place in Tulsa where you can come and say, 'I stand for peace.'"
Ackerman says veterans, pastors, and poets will use Peace House as their new meeting place.
