The economy and the ecosystem don't always mix. But Oklahoma is rewarding businesses that are good to the environment with tax credits.
Webco of Sand Springs and The Dry Cleaning Station in Owasso will get $50,000 and $20,000 respectively. Both companies bought new equipment that cuts down on the amount of hazardous waste they produce.
Mike Howard with Webco says the state money was a big incentive. "They are helping us buy the equipment that we need to create the environmental impact that they want to see."
Howard says environmentally friendly methods actually save money in the long run because you don't have as many waste disposal costs. He says it is that initial investment in new equipment that makes it tough.
