The Crocodile Hunter's death is raising interest in the stingray exhibits at the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks.
Steve Irwin died last week from a stingray's barb. Aquarium officials say it's extremely rare for stingray’s barbs to be deadly, and they hope to educate people on the normally docile animals.
They have two exhibits where visitors can pet and feed the stingrays. Aquarium deputy director Kenny Alexopoulos: “it's important for us to have stingrays available for people to touch and to look at and to feed. And that's to further educate people so they are not unduly scared of the animals and exterminate them or kill them for no reason."
The Oklahoma Aquarium does have two aggressive stingrays that are kept behind glass.
