OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A task force looking to reduce sexual violence is being told more full-time workers are needed to help victims of rape and other sex crimes.

Jennifer McLaughlin of the Oklahoma Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault says some rape victims have to drive 200 miles to Tulsa or Oklahoma City for support and other services.

KC Moon of the Oklahoma Criminal Justice Resource Center says there are about 44 rapes in Oklahoma for every 100,000 residents. And he says more than one-third of those arrested for rape and other sex crimes get probation or deferred sentences.

McLaughlin and Moon were among those who testified Thursday before the Oklahoma Task Force to Stop Sexual Violence.
