The Red Cross is in desperate need of blood donors this Labor Day. They say the blood supply has dipped dangerously low.
In hopes of recruiting blood donors, both Tulsa Red Cross locations will be open Monday until 2 PM. The Red Cross says one the major concerns associated with a short blood supply is the short shelf-life.
Jen Hale with the Red Cross: "What we have on shelves today is what we have in case of an emergency. For a patient that needs a blood type or needs transfusions today. What we had three days ago is what we have available so we were looking ahead and starting not only to get through the weekend but to start next week out at a pretty short supply."
The Red Cross is urging all eligible donors to call 1-800-GIVE LIFE to make an appointment or just walk-in to either Tulsa Red Cross location at 10151 East 11th Street or 7717 South Memorial.
