NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Michael Cohen and Mike Knall will split time as the punter for 10th ranked Oklahoma when the Sooners open their football season Saturday against Alabama-Birmingham.
OU coach Bob Stoops says Cohen will handle long punts while Knall will take care of directional pooch kicks.
The two had been competing to replace Cody Freeby, who was dismissed in April after serving as the Sooners' punter last season. Neither Cohen nor Knall have punted in a game for OU.
Cohen, a junior, arrived at OU this summer after spending two seasons at Kilgore College, in Texas.
Knall attended Scottsdale Community College in 2004 and didn't play last season after transferring to OU.
