Tulsa Police arrested a former University of Tulsa employee Tuesday morning after they say he pointed a gun at his former boss and pulled the trigger, twice.
Tulsa Police say Richard Hall’s gun misfired both times and that's when employees jumped on him and held him until security, then Tulsa Police arrived.
News on 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright says records show Hall was let go from TU in 2001 and when he arrived at the Chapman Activity Center Tuesday; he had two loaded guns with him along with dozens of extra bullets.
He sat down with his intended target, talked for a minute, then pulled out a 380 handgun. Tulsa Police Sgt. Mike Huff: "these people were right next to each other. The gun malfunctioned. The firing pin struck the primer and dented it. It just, the projectile didn't fire, so we could easily be involved in a homicide investigation, so the man is extremely lucky."
Tulsa Police did get a warrant to search Hall's Broken Arrow home and Tuesday afternoon they recovered some items, including two computers. They say they're looking for anything he might have written about his plans or why his anger has simmered for so long.
Hall was booked into the Tulsa County jail on three felony charges, including shooting with intent to kill and having a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.
TU officials say the incident happened in an area that wasn't very populated and they applaud the quick thinking of their employees. School officials say they will offer counseling to students and employees.
