DUBLIN, Ireland (AP) – Oklahoman Scott Verplank and his Ryder Cup teammates are in Dublin, Ireland, for two days of practice in preparation for the three-day event starting September 22nd.
Verplank is a former Oklahoma State All-American and now lives in Edmond. He was one of two captain's choices to join the team.
The US is trying to end recent domination of the event by the European team. The Europeans have won four of the last five Ryder Cups with the only American win during that time coming in 1999.
The rest of the US is Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Chad Campbell, David Toms, Chris DiMarco, Stewart Cink, Vaughn Taylor, JJ Henry, Zach Johnson and Brett Wetterich.
