VIAN, Okla. (AP) _ Three people were killed early this morning after a tractor trailer crossed the median on Interstate 40 in Sequoyah County and slammed into a car.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the accident occurred near Vian shortly after midnight when the westbound semi crossed the median and struck a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by 63-year-old Norman Winkley of El Paso, Texas.
Winkley, 77-year-old Kwinnelle Smith of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and 61-year-old Premadonna Delaney of Odessa, Texas, all were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi -- 35-year-old James Crozier of Byromville, Georgia -- was listed in stable condition at an Arkansas hospital.
The trooper's report says inattentive driving likely led to the crash.
