MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- The NAACP has removed the president and executive committee of its Muskogee chapter for not attending mandatory training sessions.
Local president AH Jones -- who has had two recent arrests -- was given a letter last month from the national board of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People notifying him of the decision.
The presidents and committees of three other Oklahoma chapters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People were removed as well, in Idabel, McIntosh County and Logan County.
Jones was arrested last month on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses and unlawful sale of mortgaged property. A July arrest resulted in a malicious injury to property charge.
Oklahoma NAACP vice president Anthony Douglas says the arrests did not influence the decision.
