BRAGGS, Okla. (AP) -- Governor Brad Henry visited hundreds of evacuees from hurricane-ravaged New Orleans Sunday at a shelter in northeastern Oklahoma.

Henry toured Camp Gruber, a National Guard training camp in Muskogee County. More than 1,400 evacuees from Hurricane Katrina arrived at the camp this morning.

As Henry walked through the camp, Ventrus Daggs of New Orleans grabbed his hand and thanked him for the hospitality.

Henry replied he was sorry Daggs had to visit the state under the circumstances.

No one's talking about how long the evacuees might stay at the camp. Henry says he believes it's not an operation that's going to last a few days or a few weeks.
