OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Two state agencies have acted to open up Lake Texoma State Park to private development.
Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin praised Wednesday's action by the state Land Commission to buy property in the park from the state Tourism and Recreation Commission. The Land Commission can legally lease the property for development by private companies.
Fallin says Texoma is ideally situated for a public-private development partnership. It draws visitors from Dallas and Oklahoma City and throughout the region.
Fallin says Texoma will become an economic boomtown in the next few years. She says it's a new opportunity to create new jobs, grow the local economy and make one of Oklahoma's crown jewels a regional and national tourism destination.
