ADA, Okla. (AP) -- Sentencing is scheduled Tuesday for a man convicted of murder in the racially charged, hit-and-run death of an East Central University football player.
Ammon Reich [pictured] was convicted in Ada on August 5th of second-degree murder and multiple counts of assault and battery. A 12-member jury recommended that the 44-year-old Reich spend the rest of his life plus 320 years in prison.
Reich, of Konawa, was convicted in the death of 18-year-old Joseph Tusan of Arlington, Texas, on September 19th. Another ECU student, Dennis Scales, was left a quadriplegic following the collision.
Prosecutors alleged Reich rammed a pickup carrying Tusan, who was black, and other students during a high-speed chase that followed an argument along the Canadian River.
