LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Alternative Spanish singer-songwriter Bebe led the list of artists Tuesday with five Latin Grammy nominations, followed by Marc Anthony, Juanes, Aleks Syntek and Obie Bermudez.
They received three each.
Bebe, whose gypsy style melds punk and flamenco, was nominated for record of the year and song of the year for ``Malo,'' album of the year and best female pop vocal album for ``Pafuera Telaranas'' and best new artist.
``This year's nominations are a true reflection of the diversity that currently exists in Latin music _ not only across genres but across generations as well,'' Latin Recording Academy President Gabriel Abaroa said. ``It's inspiring to see so many albums, songs, and music makers getting due recognition from their peers, as well as such a cross section of genres being recognized.''
Anthony was nominated for best male pop vocal album for ``Amar Sin Mentiras'' and best salsa album and best tropical song for ``Valio La Pena.''
Spain's alternative rocker-turned-pop star Juanes took nominations for best rock solo vocal album ``Mi Sange,'' best rock song ``Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor'' and best music video for ``Volverte a Ver.''
Mexico's pop sensation, Syntek, received nominations for record of the year and song of the year with ``Duele El Amor'' and best music video for ``A Veces Fui.''
Puerto Rico-born Bermudez was nominated for album of the year and best male pop vocal album for ``Todo El Ano'' and song of the year for the album's title track.
The sixth annual Latin Grammys, featuring 43 categories for Spanish and Portuguese-speaking artists, will return to the Shrine Auditorium on Nov. 3, and will be broadcast for the first time on the Univision Network.
Last year, CBS' telecast of the Latin Grammys was seen by 3.3 million people, one of the least-watched programs for the week among the top four networks.
